Reading: Selected Stories of Anton Chekhov
Since I’ve discovered the translation work of Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky, I’ve been devouring their works, beginning with Anna Karenina and War and Peace, and now I have moved on to this collection of short stories. Their translation makes what might seem historically-distanced texts accessible.
Watching: Half Hour Hegel with Gregory B. Sadler
I’ve always meant to read some Hegel, but it always seemed a tall task and intimidating. Sadler is a philosophy professor with an amazing YouTube channel. Over the last ten years, he has gone paragraph-by-paragraph through the entire Phenomenology of Spirit in 377(!) YouTube videos. I bought the book and have been following along—only 10 episodes in, we’ll see if I have the patience to make it through!
Listening: The Athletic Football Show: Football GM
I love The Athletic’s football content and in particular this podcast, and in particular on this podcast the weekly Football GM show. Mike Sando and Randy Mueller host a great program and Mueller brings almost 40 years of executive knowledge about the game. They are the two that I most enjoy listening to talk about the game.
